Duff Goldman To Appear On Imagination Movers
Posted on December 21st 2009 by Jillian Madison

Before today, I’d never even heard of Imagination Movers. I thought it was just an unfortunate side effect from taking too many ibuprofen, but as it turns out, it’s a Disney Channel show for preschoolers. It’s hosted by 3 goofy guys who sing, dance, and apparently never leave home without their signature blue gas station jumpsuits.

For whatever reason, Duff Goldman landed a cameo in an upcoming episode of the show. He’ll be taking on the challenging role of Baker Ben, a muffin man who makes boring muffins… well, muffins that look more like unfrosted Duncan Hines vanilla cupcakes, but I digress.

These “imagination movers” claim to solve problems. Maybe they should start by helping Duff figure out how to handle all the awful reviews his Girl Gourmet Cake Bakery is getting on Amazon. Two stars out of five? Yikes.

Duff’s episode is set to air on January 16, 2010. I say seeing him in that dorky chef’s hat more than makes up for whatever “wow factor” his muffins might have been missing.

(Thanks for the tip, Kayleigh!)

Thank god my girls do not watch this show and the one time we had it on, showed ZERO interest in those creepy, odd, scary men. (Too lazy to remember my password and log-in, sorry! Happy Holidays to all!)

  2. KATIE says:

    He fits in alright.

  3. Sara says:

Don’t you say a word against the Imagination Movers! They’re actually really talented musicians; by the way, there are four of them, not three. The founder of the group, Scott Durbin, was a Teacher of the Year twice running before he started the group with three of his friends; they are all from New Orleans and were flooded out with Hurricane Katrina. They were persuaded by their many fans to continue with the Movers despite the Hurricane. Disney actually didn’t change them very much at all, just giving them a set to work with. My twin daughters love them and recently went to a concert of theirs.

However, rag on Duff all you want.

    • Hilbil says:

Yeah! The Movers are great! Good music, too. (Better than most other music for kids!)

But Duff looks like a super-doof in that chef’s hat and he can’t act. :-\

    • Pamela says:

AMEN SARAH! How dare they say bad stuff about The Movers! We ABSOLUTLEY love them!

  4. Slowmodem says:

He looks like Iron Chef Chen Kenichi.

Another reason why I am glad that my kids are too old for the Disney Channel. What’s next, Duff does a cameo on “Hannah Montana” as a baker who is a huge fan of Miley’s and pretends to give her cake decorating lessons so that he can get close to her and steal her autograph? (laughter ensues, but that grating, Rachael Ray voice of Miley’s drives another parent over the edge…story at 11.)

    • Ferd Berfle says:

You may be on to something. How about if RayRay also appears on Hannah Montana, then she and Miley could see which one can etch glass with her voice?

      • michmom05 says:

An interesting concept! Actually, I prefer RayRay’s squeaky tones as compared to Miley’s rasp. It always shocks me slightly when that child opens her mouth and out comes the voice of an 83 year old who has been smoking two packs of Camels a day since the Truman administration. RayRay makes dogs howl and cover their ears, but Miley sounds like she just rolled out of a gutter after an all-night bender in a dark, smokey bar.

Personally I think he would have done better on Lazy Town. The show with the annoying girl with pink hair and a bunch of puppets.

  7. Motzi Greps says:

I love one of the Amazon reviews that states, “Duff – they are ruining your name!!”

I dunno, Duff seems to be doing a great job of that himself. Hey! I’m a FN star so I should attach my name to some crappy, cheap product and lose all credibility!

  8. Jen says:

    “It’s an idea emergency!!!!!!!”

We love the Imagination Movers!!!! I’ll have to DVR the episode… Now, if it were Fee-Yeti, I’d be pissed.

  9. Sandra says:

I work for the company that makes Duncan Hines and I just won the 1st Annual Duncan Hines Bake Off, I can probably give Duff some tips on how to bake the perfect cupcake and how to decorate it so it doesn’t look like a 1 year old made it.

  10. michmom05 says:

I find Duff to be very scary looking, I can’t imagine what little kids will think. Instead of Mommy and Daddy helping them look for monsters under the bed, after watching this show they will be looking for Duffs under the bed.

  11. JaySticLe says:

This is 100% true, I went to Target the other day and saw that piece of crap Ace of Cakes thing. I said, “What the ****? Seriously?” My mom couldn’t believe it and neither could I.

  12. Sarah says:

This jackass is a total fraud. Has watered down culinary programming significantly. And for the record, I would not let my kids anywhere near him.

  13. Jill (not Jillian) says:

There are 4 Imagination Movers. I’ve caught the show a few times; it just seemed like a new version of The Wiggles.

  14. Lexi says:

O look, a bunch of douchebag poseurs :/

  15. Persnippity says:

What’s up with all the haters? Think people would have better things to do then crap all over a baker and a kid’s show. Build them up to tear them down. Hope all you flamers continue finding fault with everyone and everything – after all, what would you do with your time if you couldn’t?

  16. Jamie says:

My sons LOVE the Imagination Movers, and I think they are great as well, There songs really get kids motivated to do things (like cleaning there rooms etc..) And they are FAR less annoying than other kids shows such as the wiggles, barney etc… And as for Duff, I myself have been a professional Cake Decorator for 13 years and am a HUGE fan of his show. I have met him and recieved his autograph as well, I cant wait to watch him on the movers! Anyone who thinks he dosent have talent obviously has never tried to decorate a cake!!! So back off! LOL

  17. Banner says:

What? You people are lame. Duff and the Imagination Movers are awesome. You judge because of how they look or act. These guys are a motivation for kids, and I agree with Jamie, they are not annoying like the Wiggles and all the other ones. I admit, for being a young mom, I actually sit down with my one year old and enjoy watching this show. If you think they’re creepy, hah, you’ve obviously haven’t taken time to actually watch this show. I’d rather have my kid watch this than any wack-ass annoying show on Nickelodeon.

  18. Wendy says:

Wow, how sad this is that the first time I come onto Food Network Humor to read something I come across a blogger that is a complete idiot! You obviously have no children, no family, no life OR you would’ve known better than to bash people who are so obviously cool like the Imagination Movers and Duff. What exactly did you expect Duff to do in this role? He did great! This show is for kids, for crying out loud! And what do you do with your time besides bashing everyone else, (and, oh yeah, THAT’S not CREEPY at all!) It’s scary what jealousy does to people. BTW, it’s FOUR men, not three. Does someone need to go back to Kindergarten to learn how to count?

  19. Corey says:

I love sarcastic humor and when people make fun of the lame crap in pop culture, but Jillian really does seem to hate anything remotely popular these days.

  20. Jacquie says:

Man this writer is harsh! It’s obv she doesn’t have kids! My daughter loves the imagination movers! And so do I. It’s one of the few shows I can watch with her. Duff was awesome and what’s up with the stab to one of his products? Geez lady!!!

  21. Alexis says:

After watching this episode (about half a dozen times) on DVR when my 2 1/2 year old son actually saw an episode of Ace of Cakes he yelled out “Baker Ben!” and was *so* excited to watch him make cakes. Crazy adorable right there!

We LOVE the Movers in this house! The Movers have songs that are actual music, not just some shlop made up to go with a stupid plot line like all the animated shows. And good for them for having positive male role models as so many TV men are only on screen to be the butt of a joke. I’m always surprised that adults will get on the internet and bash how “stupid” a kid’s show is. Of course it’s stupid, it’s aimed at 3 year olds! And of course they’re always in their jumpsuits, they’re at work. I’m having a hard time understanding why you would pick that out specifically as a negative? This “article” really seems like complaining for complaining’s sake.
