Ace Of Cakes: Photos Of The LOST 100th Episode Cake
Posted on February 14th 2009 by Jillian Madison

[Editor's note: this is a photo follow-up to an earlier post about Duff Goldman's Hawaiian Army cake. ABC flew the Ace Of Cakes crew to Hawaii so they could make a cake in honor of the 100th episode of Lost. Here's your first look at their, uh, "masterpiece." We found ourselves awfully underwhelmed, and quite "LOST" as to what is so special about this cake, but your mileage may vary. The Ace Of Cakes episode airs on May 9th. ]

  1. 4 babies home says:

…nothing my 7 year olds and I couldn’t make at home over the weekend!

    • Alice says:

Trust me, I watched them make the cake on tv, it would take forever, and you’d have to have a lot of attention to detail, and be talented.

  2. DONNA says:

How much of that cake can you even eat? 10%?

  3. Pete says:

And in a completely unrelated blog comment that has nothing to do with cakes, Chopped just came on and I’m changing the channel! Ugh, who watches this crap?!

  4. Jenna says:

Wait, this is an April Fool’s joke, right? This episode will air on April Fool’s Day? Because the joke must be that instead of that Asshat of Cakes and crew making this, a crew of Wal-Mart bakers, one blind, one with only one arm, and one who can only decorate holding frosting bags with their teeth, really decorated this cake. Right?

  5. Pluff Mudder says:

Hey! Someone Lost the cake! I don’t see any cake! Just a pile of fondant with wee little fondant people standing on it. Did this crew major in Play-doh 101?

  6. Jenna says:

    Play-doh 101 LOL!

  7. lo says:

    It looks like a balloon.

  8. Lorelai says:

Sorry folks, but I have to admit I’m not a big ACE of CAKES fan. WAY too much touching of the frosting with bare hands. I swear on one show I saw someone brush a piece of hair out of her face and then go right back to molding fondant. I have to say that this is the show that has gotten me to gag whenever I think of eating fondant. To me eating one of their cakes would be like eating playdough (not in flavor, but in the amount of touching that has been done to it)

  9. Mike in Detroit says:

As usual the cake looks like a crew of 10 yr olds made it.

I have no idea of why anyone would be proud of this.

And I would bet Walmart or Costco has some cake decorators that would put these asshats to shame.

Check out MAry ALice’s shoes in the pic HAHAHAHA LOL. Loser.

    • Alice says:

How does that look like a bunch of ten uear old made it, that would take fuckin’ skill and detail, and a lot of time to make, and they had to make a cake in the shape of a plane, too, so, yeah..

  10. Rita says:

Look like a “tax deductible” trip to Hawaii for the Ace of Cakes crew….lol. Bet the IRS buys that it was “advertizing”. HA. Ok cake, but where’s the “WOW”?

  11. grossed out says:

Geez, enjoy you shaped block of fondant and gum paste everyone!

Do you also get a sheetcake to serve to go with the pile of decorated fondant? With these skyhigh cake prices I would hope you get a little something to eat out of that mess.

  12. Amanda says:

You people are just hating, you wish you had what they had….and their cakes usually rock. Some of the things that people want make it next to impossible to make a cake shaped…cake. lol. I think they a pretty damn good job! and duffs hilarious. =D

  13. Yikes says:

    Poor Amanda.

  14. bidoof says:

Another thing with AOC that makes me feel super uneasy: they cut their styrofoam just in the middle of the bakery, bits of it flying everywhere. How much styrofoam do they carelessly feed to people?

  15. Cristine says:

They do sometimes make good cakes. One of them was a goth-themed Sweet 16 cake that was cool looking, but I’m pretty sure inedible due to the large amounts of marzipan used.

  16. dkmissy says:

“Hey look everyone we have no culinary training, so we are just gonna pill up fondant and shape it, and then sell it for 2k dollars to idiots who think its art!” the joke is really on us.

  17. dkmissy says:

**pile** thats what happens when your in the zone, you forget how to spell. i learned how to write from my boy tyler florence.

  18. I never thought I’d see this again, but glad I have! Thanks for sharing it.
