New Aaron McCargo Jr Billboard In Chelsea
Posted on January 16th 2009 by Jillian Madison

bigdaddy-huge

Somebody tell The Food Network that bigger isn’t always better.

They just paid an insane amount of money to put up a gigantic billboard for Big Daddy’s House on the side of a building in Manhattan’s Chelsea Market. I’ll tell you this much, those advertising dollars were wasted because no one in Chelsea cares about Aaron McCargo. At all. But what a treat for the astronauts working on the space station, who can now look down and see AARON MCCARGO’S FACE smiling up at them. How wonderful that must be.

Not surprised that this billboard was pasted outside Chelsea Market; it’s the place where Food Network is based. Their studios and offices are located inside the market.

  2. Jenna says:

Food Network is based in Chelsea which is exactly why they should have advertised elsewhere. It’s like McDonalds paying to put up advertising in their parking lot.

  3. Harris says:

Nobody in Chelsea cares about Aaron McCargo? Nobody ANYWHERE cares about Aaron McCargo!

  4. Jenna says:

I’m going to go on the record right now and say Big Daddy will not be on the food network for a 3rd season.

  5. eyeris says:

Chelsea is home to some of the most skilled chefs in the northeast. To see a huge billboard of Aaron McCargo there is a disgrace to them.

  6. eyeris says:

Moderator please delete my last comment, I made a typo. I meant to say:

Chelsea is home to some of the most skilled chefs in North America. To see a huge billboard of Aaron McCargo there is a disgrace to them.

  7. Frank says:

i dont think aaron is so bad, but that does not mean i want to stare at him every day on my way to and from work. bigger is not always better, good point.

  8. Baysadaye says:

The editing helps his show, but it’s still a low-end Food Network program that deserves to be on Saturday mornings at 5:00 in the morning or something. Only the editing makes him look good or “funny” or whatever indiscriminate viewers want to believe. He’s average at best, and won’t be around for long. He was only funny once on “Next Food Network Star,” when he was up for elimination, and begged for his life by weeping and saying something like “Mah son done run away,” causing the judges to look away in embarrassment. His poor son must have seen the show.

  9. Neo says:

The show is simply awful, and no amount of billboards will change that fact.

  10. Under-where says:

I tried to like Aaron McCargo’s show. Really, I did. I rooted for him on NFNS. But I’m sorry. Man, the show is just abysmal. Big Daddy Bad. I agree, it won’t be around for a 3rd season.

  11. dee says:

Aaron is the food network star’s fixed pick. They need to push him and get him some ratings and keep him; if they don’t Bob and Suzie will get the axe, after all they are the ones who fixed last years show.

  12. Kyle says:

FN keep trying to push McCArgo on the public into thinking we might just cave and think he is a Michelin Star chef afterall.

I know they desparately want to attract black viewers and obviously McCargo is the sales guy. With all the talented black chefs out there, why oh why did they happen to settle on him ? I am getting real tired of both him and the Neelys being thrown at us.

  13. Cuisineboy1975 says:

Didn’t Food Network have a black female host a show years back; I think her last name was Pinkney or something. I remember it aired in the mornings, if I recall. This was probably before the network overdosed on Rachael Ray-flavored Kool Aid.

  14. Kyle says:

her name was Sandra Pinkney. Not sure if she was chef or not.Doesn’t matter. She isn’t around anyhow.

I guess we will continue to be bombarded with Mr Semi Literate and the Neelys. I think Gina Neely might be the most annoying person TV period, not just FN.

  15. Jules says:

“Be bold in the kitchen” they should add an asterisk

*and cook like your audience are a bunch of prison inmates and the elderly.

  18. Malik7 says:

Well, I live in Boston, and I think that Aaron McCargo Jr. is the best NFNS to come along since Guy Fieri and the Neelys!

Sorry, but whoever said that doesn’t know good talent even if it came up to them and slapped them in the face.

  19. Automne says:

Mr. Big Daddy just used filet mignon in a sloppy freaking joe recipe. Why, Big Daddy? Why? we ask. Because, he says, I deserve to treat myself. So you spend a lot of money on filet mignon only to chop it up and drown it in a ketchup-based sauce and stick it in a bun? It’s not like he bought the whole tenderloin and used the scrappier parts; no, he used the part that costs like $35 at a really nice restaurant.

  20. roxanne dupuis says:

I think Malik probably works for FN or is McCArgo’s next door neighbour.

  21. K says:

    To The blogger:

Its the same as no one cares about every other ad, It’s just there to advertise but people just walk past it. And so what if They put Aaron’s photo on the side of a building, Shame on you for being so cruel about Aaron. He’s working hard and “he’s trying”!

  22. gWYNETH says:

I love Big Daddy’s House and will continue to watch his show year after year. His recipes are fantastic and can be done at home in your kitchen. I have made a number of them and they are delicious. I have also made some of Paula Deen’s recipes and The Neeley’s Cornish Hens at Christmas. Who died and made you naysayers experts on Chefs and Cooking? I bet that most of you can barely cook Uncle Ben’s Rice correctly!

  23. L Harris says:

You’ve got to be kidding me! I am a huge fan of Aaron’s. Pooh to you haters.

  24. L Harris says:

You people are cruel. Don’t have apositive thing to say about anyone who has worked dligently and very hard to get to where he’s at today. I’m proud of Aaron and I hope he doesn’t allow any of the bad comments to affect him any kind of way. Keep up the good work Aaron. Not everybody will be a fan. You know who you are-look up to the hilss from which cometh your help!

  25. Linda Bugg says:

I was surprised to see/read so many adverse comments concerning Arron Macargo’s Big Daddys’s House. I am a dedicated, loyal and commited fan of Big Daddy’s House. I was excited to read that his show has been picked for a third season.

    Thank you,

    Mrs Linda Bugg
